Queen Elizabeth II’s body kept at Westminster for public-viewing

Queen Elizabeth II's body

Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin has been shifted from Buckingham palace to Westminster Hall in a solemn procession. The queen’s body will lie in state until her funeral, which takes place on Monday. The hall is readied for round-the-clock public viewing. This ritual is expected to draw thousands of people.

King Charles II, Prince William and Prince Harry accompanied Queen’s coffin procession. Back in 1997, William and Harry also accompanied the funeral procession of their mother, Princess Diana. Meanwhile, many people were waiting for miles to bid farewell to their beloved queen. The hall’s doors opened at 5 PM on September 14 and the public was allowed inside to have a final look at the queen’s coffin.

This coffin was made 30 years ago using English oak lined with lead. Even though times have changed, the British Royal family is following the traditional funeral rituals for the queen.

Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8. She was 96. She was crowned as the queen in 1952. She is the long-lasting monarch of Britain, who ruled the British empire for 70 years. She has four children, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward. Charles has become the King of the British empire after the queen’s demise.
