Mumbai Airport will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm tomorrow

The Mumbai airport authority has officially confirmed that the airport’s runway will be closed for post-monsoon maintenance from 11 am to 5 pm. Usually, more than 800 flights land and take off every day at the Chatrapathi Sivaji Airport Terminal.

“As part of our post-monsoon preventive maintenance of runway intersection, we at #MumbaiAirport have planned a runway closure on Tuesday, 18th October, 2022, from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs.” tweeted the officials of Mumbai Airport.

As one of the busiest airports in the country, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) prides itself in carrying out safe, efficient, and seamless runway operations, owing to carefully planned and executed runway maintenance work, throughout the year. Thus, in order to continue with its superior airport operations, CSMIA has planned a runway closure on Tuesday, 18th October, 2022, from 1100 hrs to 1700 hrs, for repair & maintenance work on both its runways- RWY 14/32 & 09/27. As part of its post-monsoon preventive maintenance of runway intersection, major tasks like runway edge lights for runway 14/32, and the upgradation of AGL (Aeronautical Ground Lights), will be undertaken.

With more than 800 flights landing and taking off each day, this yearly practice of post-monsoon runway maintenance is part of the series of activities undertaken with precision and meticulous efforts, ensuring operational continuity and passenger safety. thus bringing to life the vision of imbibing passenger-first approach at the core of our operations. In cooperation with airline customers and other key stakeholders, CSMIA has effectively rescheduled flights to ensure smooth completion of the maintenance and ensure least inconvenience to the passengers.
