Pan-India film Adipurush’, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, has been embroiled in controversy ever since its teaser release.

The movie director has faced major backlash from social media users and religious leaders for ‘misrepresentation’ of Lord Ram and Raavan. Even director Om Raut has received a notice from the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha asking him to remove controversial scenes from the film in seven days or else face legal action.

The notice also outlines that Adipurush filmmakers and artists have harmed the cultural significance of the original characters in the Hindu epic Ramayana.

The priest of Ayodhya Ram temple also stated that the film should not be released. Marking the same, Advocate Ashish Roy filed a petition seeking action against the film team, including producer Bhushan Kumar, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan. He appealed to the court to stop the release of the movie. Due to this, the Delhi High Court issued a legal notice to the movie unit including Prabhas.

In ‘Adipurush’ helmed by Om Raut, Prabhas played the role of Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Sita and Saif Ali Khan as Ravanasura aka Lankesh. Made with a huge budget of Rs 500 crore, the movie is based on Ramayana. The film is expected to be released next year during Sankranti.
