After throwing an unexpected surprise by declaring Draupadi Murmu as its Presidential candidate, Bharatiya Janata Party led coalition NDA has named its Vice Presidential candidate as Jagdeep Dhankar, who is currently serving as Governor of West Bengal.
After the parliamentary board of BJP has taken this decision on Saturday, party’s national chief JP Nadda as announced it at a press conference in New Delhi. After a lot of consultations within the party, BJP declared Kisan Putra Jagadeep as Vice Presidential candidate.
Before this announcement, there was lot of speculations that current Vice-President Sri Venkaiah Naidu may get one more term to serve in the position. And other names in the news were Mukthar Abbas Naqvi, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Telangana Governer Tamilisai and others.
Tweeting about this, PM Modi said “Kisan Putra Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji is known for his humility. He brings with him an illustrious legal, legislative and gubernatorial career. He has always worked for the well-being of farmers, youth, women and the marginalised. Glad that he will be our VP candidate.”
