The nomination process for the Indian National Congress Presidential Election will start on September 24. Ahead of it, The Rajasthan unit of Congress on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution calling for the appointment of Rahul Gandhi as the president. The resolution is proposed by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
In fact, Gehlot was seen as the strong contender for the president post. But he extended his support to Rahul Gandhi by passing this resolution. Rajasthan became the first state to pass a resolution in a bid to persuade Rahul Gandhi to become the party president once again.
After the PCC meeting held in Jaipur, Rajasthan minister Pratap Singh Khachariya stated that a resolution was also passed authorising the next party president to appoint Rajasthan Congress president and also nominate the members of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) from the state. It was heard that Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot didn’t attend the meeting as he was in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Gehlot refuted the rumours of him contesting for the presidential post and said that the entire party will not be happy if Rahul Gandhi don’t take the charges as the president once again. He opined that if Rahul becomes the president, the party will remain united.
