Gautham Vasudev Menon’s ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ was released in theatres on September 15 and the film has been receiving a lot of positive reviews. Though the film released in Telugu as Life Of Muthu haven’t bagged good collections, the film has opened with huge box office numbers in Kollywood and it did well on the first weekend.
Interestingly, this Simbu starrer bagged Rs. 29 crores approx on its first weekend but with a below-par trajectory over Saturday and Sunday. The film bagged huge numbers mainly on Thursday. The film had decent bookings on Saturday but couldn’t go that extra mile on Sunday.
‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’ Box-office Collections: VTK
The box office numbers of the film at the Indian box office at last four days was as follows:
On Thursday – Rs. 9.10 crores
On Friday – Rs. 5.15 crores
On Saturday – Rs. 7.25 crores
On Sunday – Rs. 7.75 crores
Total, the film bagged Rs. 29.25 crores.
Coming to the Telugu dubbed version, Life of Muthu, which was slated to release on Saturday faced last minute hurdles and shows started only from the evening instead of from morning. Saturday collections of the film in Telugu remained limited at only Rs. 70 lakhs.
Coming to territorial breakdown of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu, it collected Rs. 25 crores in Tamil Nadu, Rs. 2.10 crores in Karnataka, Rs. 1.25 crores in AP/TS, Rs. 55 lakhs in Kerala and Rs. 35 Lakhs in Rest of India.
