Ahead of the state legislature’s Monsoon Session, the Uttar Pradesh police stopped Akhilesh Yadav and other party members from marching to the Vidhan Bhavan. And also stopped them from expressing the issues affecting people.
Before encountering police barricades, the Samajwadi Party leader had travelled 100 metres. However, Police stopped them saying they didn’t have authorization to march along their intended path.
Marking this Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, made fun of the Samajwadi Party.
“There is no harm if any party asks their questions in a democratic way. Samajwadi Party should take permission for any procession which should not harm anyone. Following law and order is too much of an expectation from Samajwadi Party leaders,” he added.
On the other hand,Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Piyush Mordia, said
“They hadn’t taken permission. Still, they were assigned a designated route that wouldn’t have caused traffic congestion. They refused to take that. We’ve no option but to stop them here. If they take the designated route, there won’t be a problem,”.
Meanwhile, once police stopped the march, Akhilesh Yadav and his party members departed the location where they were staging their sit-in. For the time being, they all returned to the party office.
