Looks like the era 5G has already begun with the sample rollouts by Jio & Airtel across the nation. While the debate around the necessity & damage caused by the 5G spectrum remains open, business companies are already taking over the market through the rollout services.

Two more cities are added to the list of Jio 5G rollouts, Hyderabad & Bengaluru, with standing unlimited data under the welcome offer. Airtel also makes a move as Jio launches 5G in these cities. Previously, Jio rolled out the services in 5 cities, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi and Nathdwara. While Jio is up with a Standalone approach, Airtel is using Non-Standalone. ‘Standalone’ refers to the dependency of the network to stay connected. If it is a Standalone, it shall rely only on its 5G network, while non-Standalone does rely on 4G & other bandwidths to maintain the reception & connection. Jio standalone 5G network has registered a promising speed of 400-500 MBPS and doesn’t rely on 4G LTE to stay connected.

A software update is expected by the major companies to run 5G by the end of December 2023 and a wider roll-out is expected in early 2024.
