Actor Vijay Deverakonda was questioned by Enforcement Directorate (ED) the other day regarding the funding of his last film Liger. It is already known that ED has been questioning Liger’s director Puri Jagannath and producer Charmme Kaur for many months regarding their financial issues. After looking into the reports stating that money used in the funding came from a foreign source, ED summoned Puri, Charmme and VD.
It is a clear violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) of 1999 if the funding came from foreign sources. In the investigation, ED asked Vijay about the identities of foreign investors who funded Liger. He was questioned for more than 12 hours.
After coming out of the ED office, Vijay told the media that with great popularity comes certain challenges. “There is nothing one can do about it. I take this as an experience. I did my duty. I went there and answered all questions they asked me,” Vijay further added.
Vijay didn’t confirm if he was called again for the questioning. Meanwhile, the ED officials are still investigating the case. Liger was released a few months ago and became a disaster at the box office. It was co-produced by Karan Johar. It featured Ananya Panday as the female lead.
