Central Railway Minister Ashwani Vaishnav on Wednesday said that no new Railway project would be given to Andhra Pradesh due to the State’s failure to provide its share of funds.
Speaking in the Parliament on the progress of the AP rail line projects, he mentioned that currently, railway works worth Rs.70 thousand crores are being done in the AP state. He added that the YCP government was in no way cooperating with railway projects.
It is already known that YSRCP MP Vallabhaneni Balashauri wrote a letter to Central asking for railway projects. Replying to this written question asked by Vallabhaneni Balashauri, Ashwani suggested that the state government should be convinced.
He said that YSRCP cooperates with the Central, then ongoing works will be completed quickly. The Andhra Pradesh government has to give Rs.1,798 crores as its share for those works, but it hasn’t done so. Also, he added that most of the work related to railway projects in the state had been stopped for three years, and the government is not moving forward as it has not paid its share.
