Asia Cup 2022: India thrashes Hong Kong to qualify for the Super-4

After Afghanistan, Team India became the second team to qualify for the super-4 stage in Asia Cup 2022. India won its first match against Pakistan a couple of nights ago. It continued its stupendous form in the second game against Hong Kong tonight and won the match by 40 runs.

Hong Kong won the toss and chose to bowl first. India made use of this decision and it got useful contributions from its top four batters. Openers Rohit Sharma (21) and KL Rahul (36) made a partnership of 38 runs. After Rohit got out, Rahul and Virat Kohli (59* off 44 balls) made a partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket. Then, Rahul went back to the pavilion as well. After that, Kohli anchored the innings and he was supported well by Surya Kumar Yadav (68* off 26 balls). The latter played blistering innings during the death overs and helped India in posting a huge total of 192/2 in 20 overs. In the process, both of them scored their respective half-centuries as well.

Hong Kong lost its openers for low scores while chasing this big total. Babar Hayat (41) played a key innings but Jadeja got his wicket at a crucial point. After his dismissal, Hong Kong never fought back and ended its innings at a score of 152/5 in 20 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh scalped a wicket each.
