Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday acted in the lead roles recently in the film Liger. Directed by Puri Jagannath, the film was produced by Karan Johar, Apurva Mehta, Puri Jagannath, and Charmmee Kaur. The film was also called a Boycott in the Bollywood film industry. There could be many reasons for why the film was called for a Boycott. However, RGV has given a reason for the same.
“Vijay is naturally aggressive on stage. He has attention grabbing antics. But the fundamental reason why there was a Boycott Liger movement in Bollywood is because of Karan Johar who is associated with the project. Ever since Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise, it has become common for Bollywood folk to boycott Karan’s films.” said Ram Gopal Varma in a recent interview.
Liger was released amidst huge expectations at the box office and the film marked the debut of Vijay Deverakonda in Bollywood. But, the film did not bring in good reports in all the languages.
Ram Gopal Varma is a dear friend of Puri Jagannath and the duo share a great rapport in the film industry. With the failure of Liger, there is no clarity on what will happen to Janagana Mana, coming in the combination of duo.
