ManiRatnam’s dream project Ponniyin Selvan: 1 has generated an unprecedented demand for tickets. With such a stupendous craze, many distributors and exhibitors in Tamil Nadu are saying that the film would perform like Baahubali 2. The trade is hoping that this film will bring in the family audiences in big numbers.
The film is going to hit the screens on Tomorrow, on September 30. The advance booking of tickets has been doing very well and the numbers are really encouraging. The has registered very strong advance booking mainly in cities like Chennai and Pondicherry. Interesting is that, in both the cities, the tickets are sold out for almost the whole weekend.
With this, the film is on course to register the best first-day advance booking for any Tamil film this year.
As per the reports, the Tamil version of the PS 1 had sold tickets for opening day worth ₹10 crore gross alone. Along with the Tamil version, the Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam-dubbed versions contributed to advance booking sales of over ₹1 crore, taking total advance booking sale for the first day to Rs 11 crore. However, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram released this year had seen advance booking sales of ₹15.30 crore for the first day. But with the entire Thursday left for PS1, trade analysts are saying that the film may surpass Vikram’s figure.
