The IBC News Rating

Bollywood’s hunk actor Hrithik Roshan is back with his new flick, Vikram Vedha. Directed by Pushkar-Gayathri, this film is an official remake of the 2017 film of the same name. Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte played the other lead roles in it. Vikram Vedha has been released and here is the review of it.

Storyline :

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vikram (Saif Ali Khan) is assigned to the job of nabbing the crooked gangster Vedha (Hrithik Roshan), who rules the Lucknow underworld. All of a sudden, Vedha surrenders himself to the police station one day. But things don’t come easy for Vikram as arresting Vedha is not a jolly task. The cat and mouse drama between these two individuals form the main crux of the film.

What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:

Hrithik Roshan is the heart and soul of the film. He owns the proceedings just like the way Vijay Sethupathi did it in the original. But never did Hrithik try to imitate Sethupathi. The cat and mouse screenplay resembling the Vikram-Betal stories are highly engaging.

Saif Ali Khan’s characterization is pretty boring. The Hindi version is 20-minute lengthier than the original Tamil version. It feels lagged in a few places and tests the audience’s patience a bit.

Vikram Vedha Review

Performance of Cast & Crew

As mentioned earlier, Hrithik completely dominates the film and steals the show. On the contrary, Saif Ali Khan gets a monotonous role which has nothing exciting to offer. In fact, Radhika Apte’s role is more impressive than his character. Satyadeep Mishra and Sharib Hashmi are good in their respective roles.

Directors Pushkar and Gayathri made some minor changes to the script to suit Hrithik’s mass appeal. They gave an engaging screenplay and tried to maintain the momentum well by balancing the other commercial elements. Their narrative is complemented well by the terrific background score of Sam CS. Vishal and Shekhar’s songs are okay but not memorable. The cinematographer PS Vinod captures the essence of Lucknow very well. The production values are great. The editing is apt.

First Half & Second Half:

The stage is set for the confrontation of Vikram and Vedha pretty early into the film. Thus, the first half progresses in an engaging way throughout. Even the interval bang is good and sets up the bar for the second half.

The second half is good but not as engaging as the first half. The brother sentiment track didn’t work well as it did in the original version. However, things get compensated with the terrific climax.

Impressive:

Hrithik Roshan’s performance
Background score
Story Narrative

Unimpressive:

Brother sentiment track
Saif’s character is not shown in a very powerful way

‘The IBC’News take on Movie:

On the whole, Vikram Vedha is a good remake of the original. Hrithik carries it on his shoulders and charms us with his persona. You can definitely watch it for him. You will not be disappointed for sure.
