Maharashtra: 11 died in a deadly fire accident in Nashik

The state of Maharashtra woke up to devastating news of a deadly accident near Nashik. At least 11 people were killed and 38 injured after a bus caught fire in Nashik earlier this morning. The bus caught fire after hitting a trailer truck which was carrying diesel. The accident happened on the Nashik-Aurangabad highway.

Amol Tambe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Nashik, said that most of the deceased are the passengers of the bus. He stated that the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment. He further added that a case has been filed and instigation is underway to know the exact cause of the fire.

The videos of this fire accident have surfaced on social media. According to the eyewitnesses, the accident took place at around 5.15 am this morning. As soon as they came across the accident, they called up the ambulance and police department.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the deceased passengers. His official handle tweeted, “Anguished by the bus tragedy in Nashik. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones in this mishap. May the injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each of the deceased due to the bus fire in Nashik. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000.”

On the other side, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced financial assistance of Rs. 5 lakhs for families of the each deceased person.
