Indian pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur will be flown to Australia ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. One of them will replace Jasprit Bumrah in the 15-member squad. It is already known that Bumrah has been ruled out of the tournament due to a back injury.
The final decision on the replacement will be taken on October 14. The other two bowlers will be in the reserves category. It is heavily heard that Mohammed Shami will be replacing Bumrah in the squad but sources close to the BCCI said that the final decision has not been taken yet.
On the other side, both Thakur and Siraj have done really well in the recently concluded series against South Africa. Siraj was exceptional in the ODI series. In three matches, he took five wickets with an average of 20.80. He was also awarded the Man of the Series.
Meanwhile, Shardul Thakur scalped three wickets in three matches with an average of 26.33. On the batting front, he played one innings in three matches and scored 33 runs. Both Shardul and Siraj have good T20 experience and they can also be in contention for the spot in the 15-member squad.
