The debate on Hindi imposition is currently going viral on social media. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah, heading the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language, to President Droupadi Murmu, submitted a report that English to be replaced with Hindi as medium of instruction in all Central universities like IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, Central universities and Kendriya Vidyalayas.

The leaders in South India have come forward with their objections and also confirmed that they will protest on the same.

“India does NOT have a National language & Hindi is one among the many official languages. To impose Hindi by way of mandating in IITs & central Govt recruitments, NDA Govt is flouting the federal spirit. Indians should have a choice of language & we say No to #HindiImposition” tweeted KTR on social media.

“The rigorous thrust by Union BJP government for #HindiImposition, negating the diversity of India is happening at an alarming pace. The proposals made in the 11th volume of the report of the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language are a direct onslaught on India’s soul. If implemented, the vast non-Hindi speaking population will be made second-class citizens in their own land. Imposing Hindi is against the integrity of India. The BJP govt would do well to learn lessons from the Anti-Hindi agitations in the past.” posted Tamilnadu CM MK Stalin on Twitter.

“Union Govt’s #HindiImposition move is an onslaught on India’s cherished ideal, unity in diversity. It will disadvantage a vast majority of Indians in matters of education and employment. This callous move, an affront on cooperative federalism, has to be opposed unitedly.” said Kerala CM Pinrayi Vijayan on social media.
