Pakistan finally registers a win in T20 World Cup. After losing the first two games against India and Zimbabwe respectively, Pak won its third game against the Netherlands by 6 wickets. All credit goes to the bowlers for this phenomenal performance with the ball. This also happens to be Pakistan’s first win on Australian soil.
Pak bowlers breathed fire during the Netherlands’ innings. Opener Myburgh got out in the third over. Bas de Leede retired after getting hit by a nasty bouncer of Haris Rauf. Tom Cooper went back by scoring a single-digit total. The same is the case with Max ODowd. The run rate never crossed 6 throughout the innings.
Barring Ackermann (27) and captain Edwards (15), no other batter scored a double digital total. As a result, the Netherlands was able to make only 91 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Shadab Khan scalped three wickets (3/22). Mohammed Wasim Jr got two wickets (2/15). Shaheen Afridi (1/19), Naseem Shah (1/11) and Haris Rauf (1/10) got one wicket each.
Chasing such a low score was an easy task for Pakistan. Even in such a comfortable chase, captain Babar Azam continued his horrendous form and got out in the second over itself. Fakhar Zaman (20) was dismissed in the eighth over. Later, Mohammed Rizwan (49) and Shaan Masood (12) almost took their team to the victory shores. In the process, Rizwan got out one run short of his half-century. Within no time, Masood also got out. Finally, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan took Pakistan to victory. Pak scored 95/4 in 13.5 overs. Even in such a low-scoring chase, Pak batters fumbled against the Netherlands. That shows how weak their batting lineup is. Pak will play its next match against South Africa on November 3.
