The entire cinematic world is eagerly awaiting the release of Avatar: The Way of Water. Directed by the visionary James Cameron, this film is a sequel to the 2009 global blockbuster Avatar. It is slated for a worldwide release on December 16, 2022. It will be released in multiple languages in India.

Avatar was a smashing hit in India. There is a huge hype around Avatar 2 as well. Thus, the makers are planning to take advantage of that hype. If the latest buzz is anything to go by, the production house’s Indian representatives are quoting more than Rs. 150 crores for the rights of the film in four South Indian languages.

This is a humongous number for a Hollywood film. There is no denying that Avatar has a huge fan base in India but this sequel is coming after a gap of almost 13 years. Moreover, people will prefer watching it in the original than the regional language. So, the distributors are unsure if they can buy the film for such a huge price.

However, if the film manages to get a good talk, it can do well in any language, just like Avengers: Endgame. We will get to know more about Avatar 2’s pre-release business figures in the coming days.
