After winning the T20I series, Team India also won the ODI series against England. In the third and decider game of the series, India defeated England by 5 wickets and won an ODI series in the Brits’ land after a gap of nine years.
Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. With the help of Hardik Pandya (4/24), Yuzvendra Chahal (3/60) and Mohammed Siraj (2/66), India managed to get England all-out for 259 runs in 45.5 overs. Captain Jos Buttler remained the top scorer for England.
India fumbled while chasing this modest total. It lost the key wickets of Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav in less than 100 runs. At one point, India’s score was 72/4. That’s when Rishab Pant (125*) and Hardik Pandya (71) weaved a match-turning partnership of 133 runs.
While Pandya scored a half-century, Rishab Pant impressed with a century. Even though Pandya got out, Pant finished off things with the help of Jadeja. With this win, India sealed the series by 2-1. Rishab Pant got the Man of the Match award and Hardik Pandya was awarded the Man of the Series.
