Team India is continuing its superlative form in the short formats of cricket. After winning the T20I and ODI series in England, Indians have now won the ODI series against West Indies. It was a whitewash as the men in blue clean swept the series by 3-0. This is the first time India has whitewashed a series against West Indies in West Indies. Shikhar Dhawan became the first captain to achieve this feat.
India won the toss in the rain-affected third ODI and elected to bat first. Once again, openers Shikhar Dhawan (58) and Shubman Gill (98*) gave a stunning start and made a partnership of 113 runs for the first wicket.
In the process, both of them have scored their respective half centuries. After Dhawan got out, Gill made a partnership of 86 runs with Shreyas Iyer (44). By the end of 36 overs (reduced due to the rain), India managed to score 225/3. Gill remained unbeaten with 98 runs.
West Indies got a disastrous start in the chase as Kyle Mayers and Shamarh Brooks got out in the second over. With a collective effort from the Indian bowlers, West Indies got all-out for 137 in just 26 overs. Chahal (4/17) got four wickets. Siraj (2/14) and Shardul (2/17) picked up two wickets each.
The T20I series will start on July 29. The first match will be held in Trinidad.
