Recently, the Active Telugu Film Producers Guild has decided to stop the shootings of all Telugu films from August 1. The Film Chamber, the Telugu Film Producers Council, and the all-member panel have also extended their support for the decision.
The Telugu film fraternity had to take the decision to resolve several issues that cropped up after the COVID-19 pandemic. On Sunday, the newly-elected president of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) Kotha Basi Reddy stated that the shoots will be halted indefinitely until the solutions for the issues of the industry get sorted.
Reddy said that the increase in production costs, changing revenue models, high VPF (Virtual Print Fee) charges and OTT release window are some of the issues that need to be sorted before taking back the films to the sets. He stated that these things are posing a threat to the ecosystem of the Telugu film industry.
The shootings will not be resumed until solutions for these problems are found. Reddy added that theatres and multiplexes will remain operational and will not be affected by stopping the film shoots. The industry members will also discuss the increase in payment of daily wage issues, during these meetings.
