The IBC News Rating
Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Part One : Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in titular roles, is one of the most anticipated Indian films and finally has hit the theatres today. Let us know whether the film lived up to its expectations or not.
Plot:
An evil force (Mouni Roy) wishes to bring three Brahmastra broken pieces together to awaken Dev who once tried to destroy the world. However, to overcome this, only Shiva, an ordinary guy with latent can be the unwitting saviour. What he does forms the crux.
What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:
The film offers a lot of scope for thrills here and there. The film has top-notch VFX till date in Indian Cinema. Also, there are few good goosebump moments that stand out – the interval block, Ranbir knowing his powers and the climax till the point Mouni Roy almost emerges victorious. Ayan Mukerji creates a great visual world with gripping narration in the first half with the best usage of VFX.
Second half looks extremely long. Also dialogues are at times over the top and confuses us. The romantic tracks drags the story down in quite a few places. After some time,. Climax looks stretched.

Performance of Cast & Crew:
Ranbir Kapoor shoulders the entire movie and he delivered a very impressive performance. Alia Bhatt got a subtle role and was also a pillar to the Ranbir Role. Amitabh Bachchan as usual made a stupendous presence. Mouni Roy is the ideal foil in her character. Shahrukh’s guest appearance stands out in the film for the Hindi audience, whereas Nagarjuna’s cameo remains interesting and intense for the Tollywood audience.
Coming to technical aspects, Ayan has made sure that Brahmastra is bigger and grand in every aspect. Production values are top notch and all the money spent is clearly visible in every scene which is quite grand. Music is good but the BGM will surely evoke goosebumps in so many scenes. The camerawork is top notch as many scenes are showcased in a spectacular manner. Even the songs are shot very well and never hamper the flow of the narrative. Editing could have been lot better as at least 20-25 minutes film feels unnecessary.
First Half & Second Half:
First half thrills us here and there. Interval block leaves us stunned and also creates expectations for the second half. But it is downhill from the start of the second half. From an exciting drama, Brahmastra becomes boring film in the second half. Mainly, boring love track and extended scenes kills all the excitement and tests our patience.

Impressive:
VFX Effects
Interval Block
Production Values
Unimpressive:
Second Half
Editing
‘The IBC News’ take on movie:
Brahmastra is strictly an average film with great VFX effects. The film offers visual treat for audience but at the same time tests the patience with many unnecessary scenes and dragged love track. However, it’s worth watching on big-screen, for its Grandeur, Unique plot and VFX.
