King Charles III announced as new Monarch of Britain

Couple of days after death of Queen Elizabeth -II, the throne has been passed to her elder son King Charles III (73) who’s officially announced as new monarch of Britain on Saturday. Amidst several guests including new UK Prime Minister Liz Truss, senior MPs, peers and bureaucrats, Charles-III has taken oath at the St. James’s Palace in London in front of ceremonial body called as the Accession Council, . First the first time, the coronation ceremony was broadcasted live.

King Charles was accompanied by his wife and Queen Camilla and his eldest son Prince William to the ceremony. In his first national address, Charles vowed his lifelong service to the nation and went on to thank his mother saying ‘may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest’.

King Charles III and his family will inherit the Queen’s estimated $500 million fortune and gets annual Sovereign Grant — which was $116.7 million in 2021. He will now be the head of state in 14 countries outside UK.
