Road Safety World Series

The Road Safety World Series T20 2022, featuring retired legends of cricket, kickstarted today in Kanpur. India Legends took on South Africa Legends in the first game of the tournament. India won the match by 61 runs.

India’s captain Sachin Tendulkar won the toss and elected to bat first. He opened the innings along with Naman Ojha. Both of them made a partnership of 46 runs for the first wicket. Later, Sachin (16) got out. Within no gap, even Ojha (21) also went back to the pavilion. Later, Stuart Binny (82* off 42 balls) and Suresh Raina (33) settled the innings with a partnership of 64 runs. After that, Raina got out. Soon, Yuvraj also went back to the dressing room. That’s when Binny and Yusuf Pathan (35* off 15 balls) went berserk and smacked the ball all over the park. Their 88-run partnership in 33 balls helped India in scoring 217/4 in 20 overs. J van der Wath scalped two wickets (3-0-28-2) for South Africa.

South Africa got a good start from its openers Andrew Puttick (23) and Morne van Wyk (26) during the chase. But once they got out, wickets started falling at regular intervals. Barring skipper Jonty Rhodes (38*), no other batter showed intent to chase the target. As a result, South Africa ended the innings at a score of 156/9. Rahul Sharma scalped three wickets (4-0-17-3). Munaf Patel (4-0-24-2) and Pragyan Ojha (4-0-32-2) got two wickets each.
