A massive fire that broke out in an EV bike showroom killed eight people and injured several others in Secunderabad last night.
According to the officials, the fire broke out in the EV bike showroom that is located on the ground floor of the Ruby Hotel building. It soon spread out to the first and second floors of the tower where the lodge rooms are located.
It is reported that most of them died because of asphyxiation caused by the smoke. Apparently, there were around 25 people in the hotel, including the guests and the staff.
The fire department rescued the guests by using crane ladders. A few local residents have also helped the officials in the rescue operation. The victims are set to Yashoda and Gandhi Hospitals for treatment.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs. 2 lakh compensation for each of the family members of the people who died in the fire accident. The injured persons will be given a compensation of Rs. 50000.
“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a fire in Secunderabad, Telangana. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the next of kin of each deceased. Rs. 50,000 would be paid to the injured: PM @narendramodi,” tweeted Modi.
