The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is one of the richest cricket boards in the world. Usually, if a President is elected for the board, he can not continue again for the next term. That’s been the rule so far but the Supreme court has now approved the change in the constitution of the board. With this, the existing president Sourav Ganguly and the secretary Jay Shah will continue their term.

“Office bearers can have two consecutive terms of 3 years each on one post in BCCI and similarly in State after which cool off period will come. The purpose of the cooling-off period is not to create undesirable monopolies,” said the Supreme court.

Prior to their stint in the BCCI, both Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah held key positions in West Bengal and Gujarat cricket associations for three-year stints.

Despite them successfully completing six years at respective cricket associations, they will now be continuing in the office at BCCI.

It is to be noted that Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah will have to end their tenure in September 2022. However, they will now continue their tenure.
