Eight cheetahs from Namibia have arrived in their new home today. All these 8 cheetahs have come to Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park today morning where they will be released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of the programme to reintroduce the feline in India.
After 70 years, the Cheetahs which had gone extinct in India have returned to the country. A video of these Cheetahs went viral on social media within no time.
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia welcomed these Cheetahs as they arrived in a special cargo flight that landed at the Indian Air Force Station in Gwalior.
Sharing the same, he took to his twitter and In wrote, “The cheetahs have arrived in their new home- KUNO – heavenly habitat for our cats!”.
A modified Boeing aircraft, which took off from the African country last night, carried the 8 cheetahs in special wooden crates. They came to India after 10-hours of journey. The plane landed at the Gwalior air base shortly before 8.00 a.m., an official said. Later, they were shifted to Palpur near the KNP in Sheopur district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is celebrating his birthday, will release three of the cheetahs in quarantine enclosures of the park today.
