Massive protests erupted in the Chandigarh University of Mohali a couple of nights ago due to the alleged publishing of private videos of girls on the internet by a girl student. After the protests, the administration of Chandigarh University suspended the girls’ hostel warden Rajvinder Kaur for her alleged misbehaviour with students. The university has also been shut till Saturday.
A three-member all-women Special Investigation Team under the supervision of senior IPS officer Gurpreet Deo has been appointed to investigate the case, under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. They have started investigating the case.
Until now, the cops have arrested three people. The accused girl, her boyfriend from Shimla and a man who works at a bakery in the same city. The role of the third person, in this case, is not revealed yet. Meanwhile, hostel warden Rajvinder Kaur was seen in the viral video confronting the arrested girl regarding the videos she allegedly sent to men outside the university. Apparently, the warden also didn’t inform the matter to police immediately. It is also reported that she allegedly scolded the girls who started the protest.
Students ended their protest on Monday morning when police assured a fair and transparent investigation of the case.
