Congress party presidential polls have taken the place in the headlines. Everyone is now looking forward to the next president of the party. The latest reports say that Shashi Tharoor may contest for the presidential polls and he also got a nod from Sonia Gandhi.
Apparently, Sonia Gandhi is comfortable with anyone fighting for the president position. “Anyone is free to contest the Congress presidential poll. It’s your call. Elections will be held according to the electoral process,” Sonia Gandhi told Tharoor, say the reports.
The election will be taking place next month. Shashi Tharoor is expressing a serious opinion that electing a new president would be the beginning of the revitalization that the party badly needs.
Apart from Shashi Tharoor, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will also file his nomination for the Congress’s presidential election between September 26 and September 28.
The election will take place on October 17 and the result will be declared two days later, on October 19.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was the president of the party but he resigned after the party faced defeat during the last general elections.
