If the latest reports are anything to be believed, Sourav Ganguly is all set to step down as BCCI president. According to Dainik Jagran’s report, Ganguly will step down from the president post on October 18. Ganguly served as the BCCI president for 3 years. He took charges in October 2019.
It is heard that Ganguly decided not to hold the president’s position and informed the same in the recently held meeting with the BCCI officials. It seems that the current office bearers of the BCCI and several veterans like vice president Rajeev Shukla and former BCCI president N Srinivasan were also present at the meeting.
It was further reported that the meeting was held initially at a hotel in New Delhi. Later, the second meeting took place at the residence of a top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. In the meeting, it was confirmed that Ganguly will leave his position on October 18.
Meanwhile, Jay Shah would continue to be the BCCI secretary. He will not assume the position of the BCCI president. Thus, everyone is wondering who will be the next president of the BCCI. On the flip side, we hear that Ganguly will get back to the position of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president after leaving BCCI president’s position.
