From last 2.5 decades, Chandrababu Naidu has been facing a serious accusation that he had backstabbed Sr NTR to claim the reins of Telugu Desham Party. On several occasions, his opponents has attacked Naidu as backstabber and used it as a political weapon to attack him. During his recent interaction with Nandamuri Balakrishna in Aha’s ‘Unstoppable’ show, Chandrababu opened up on the 1995 issue.
Reacting to the question by Balakrishna about the most challenging decision Naidu took in his life, the three-time Chief Minister said that ‘it is certainly 1995 decision and today, I ask you (Balakrishna) to tell if my decision was wrong?’
‘I pleaded by holding his legs but he did not pay attention, so I took a very challenging decision. When a few MLAs revolted in six months after the election, we (CBN, Balakrishna and Harikrishna) went to meet NTR who was with BV Mohan Reddy. He understood why we went there and asked if we’re there for political or a family discussion. When I informed him that we need take key political decisions, he sent both of you out and I discussed with him for about 3 hours. I begged him holding his legs, but he was not ready to be convinced,’ said Chandrababu and asked Balakrishna to tell if his decision was wrong on that day.
Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of TDP, also joined his father for some time in the show.
