As per weather reports, intense downpours are expected across Andhra Pradesh in the coming three days. Mainly, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema subdivision are particularly expected for heavy rains during the next 48 hours.
The monsoon conditions have already affected Annathapur in the past. Again continuing the same, Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that this are could face mid-range rains in coming days as well.
As per the IMD, fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls (64.5 mm-115.5 mm), thunderstorms and lightning are very likely to take place over Rayalaseema for next two days and over Coastal Andhra Pradesh for next two days.
Further, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected over the entire state for the next two days.
Meanwhile, in the past the heavy rains have created a lot of havoc across Rayalaseema, with several districts reporting flooding. In fact, the drought-prone district of Anantapur, which hasn’t had any major instances of flooding in the last decade, is also facing severe downpour. Many areas in and around Anantapur have been cut off after road access got snapped and water entered homes following flash floods that hit the city from the upper reaches due to heavy overnight downpours. This is the second time in a week that the main road connectivity between Anantapur and Alamuru/Aleru has been cut.
