Congress Presidential Election Tharoor vs Kharge

The voting for the Congress Presidential Election is currently underway. Shashi Tharoor and Mallikarjun Kharge are contesting for the post. The polling started at 10 AM and ends at 4 PM. Around 9000 Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) delegates will cast their votes and decide the fate of their party.

Kharge is being considered an official candidate who has support from the Gandhi family. On the other hand, Shashi Tharoor is branding himself as the ray of hope to bring a change in the party. This is the sixth time in the Congress party’s history where the president is being elected through elections.

The voting is happening in full swing at all the PCC offices across all the states. For the party members who are participating in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a container has been converted into a polling booth. Former president Rahul Gandhi will cast his vote through this mobile polling booth.

According to the reports, the ballot paper would contain the names of Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor on it. Party members need to tick in the box against the name of the candidate. The party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi cast their votes at AICC office in New Delhi.
