South Africa finally registered a win in the T20 World Cup 2022. After its first game became a washout due to rain, South Africa unleashed its full potential in the second game held against Bangladesh. It was an all-round performance from the proteas, which gave them a dominant victory by 104 runs.
While batting first, South Africa lost opener Temba Bavuma’s wicket right in the first over. But Rilee Rossouw (109 off 56 balls) and Quinton de Kock (63 off 38 balls) made a partnership of 168 runs for the second wicket and had put South Africa in a dominant position. de Kock got out right after scoring a half-century. But Rossouw continued his superlative form and went on to score a century. With the help of their knocks, South Africa scored 205/5 in 20 overs.
Bangladesh tried to open their chase aggressively, but once it lost openers’ wickets, things went downhill within no time. The entire batting order collapsed like a pack of cards. South African bowlers breathed fire and dismantled the batting lineup of the opponents. Anrich Nortje (4/10) and Tabraiz Shamsi’s (3/20) stunning spells helped South Africa in getting Bangladesh all out for just 101 in 16.3 overs.
With this massive win, South Africa’s net run rate boosted up to +5.200. It will help them massively in the later stages of the league.
