Chandra Grahan 2022: A lunar eclipse is produced when the Earth, moon and sun align. Now, it is a Lunar Eclipse today as we Indians call it as Chandra Grahan. Until 2025, there is no such day ever again and hence there are many rituals being followed today across the nation. There are many do’s and dont’s that need to be followed on this day as it is considered to be inauspicious period by Hindus.
In India, the Chandra Grahan sutak kaal is going to start at 9:21 am and then it will come to an end at 06:18 pm where the period preceding the eclipse is known as Sutak.
According to Drik Panchang, Lunar Eclipse Sutak is observed for 3 Prahars if it is before the eclipse. At the same time, it is observed for 9 hours before the actual start of the Chandra Grahan.
According to the Indian government’s Ministry of Earth Science, the total phase of the eclipse will be seen in the Eastern parts of the country, including Kolkata and Guwahati. In some cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru, partial eclipse will be visible.
On the other hand, the experts say that the next total lunar eclipse is not expected until March 14, 2025.
