Pakistan registered a dominant victory against New Zealand and qualified for the final of the T20 World Cup 2022. Pakistan has excelled in all three departments, batting, bowling and fielding. They completely out-skilled the Kiwis and won the match by seven wickets.
After winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bat first. They go a poor start as opener Fin Allen got out in the first over itself. On the last ball of the powerplay, Conway got runout. In-form Glenn Phillips also got out in no time. The score was 49/3 in 8 overs. That’s when captain Kane Williamson (46) and Daryll Mitchell (53*) made a partnership of 68 runs and settled the game. But the run rate was too low. When Williamson decided to flex his arms, Shaheen Afridi got his wicket. Mitchell and Jimmy Neesham (16) remained not out but they couldn’t score big. Pakistan’s speculator bowling in the death overs restricted New Zealand to a score of 152/4 in 20 overs. Shaheen Afridi (2/24) scalped two wickets.
Pakistan openers Muhammed Rizwan (57) and Babar Azam (53) gave a stunning start to their team. Their 105-run partnership had put Pakistan in a dominant position. Babar Azam got out after scoring a half-century. Rizwan got out in the 17th over. Mohammed Haris (30) got out in the 19th over after playing a handy knock. Finally, Ifthikar Ahmed and Shaan Masood finished off the things and helped their team in scoring 153/3 in 19.1 overs. Trent Boult (2/33) scalped two wickets for New Zealand.
The winner of the match between India and England tomorrow will play against Pakistan in the final on November 13.
