Last year this time, Ajay Devgn, Akshay and Ranveer Singh starrer Sooryavanshi opened to good response in theatres. Apart than Kashmir Files and Ranbir Kapoor’s Brahmastra, not many Bollywood films made it big in last 10 months. With the arrival of Ajay Devgan’s Drishyam-2 in cinemas from 18th November, all eyes were on whether the big day would see better collections. 7 years after the first installment released, it was carrying a good hype and there’s excitement among audiences to catch a film on the big screen.
The combination of Ajay Devgan and director Akshay Pathak in the newest installment of this thriller seems to have worked well as it opened to solid start at box-office. The box-office numbers are higher than Akshay Kumar’s periodic action film Tanhaji. The star actor has delivered a fabulous performance and he neatly gets back into skin of the lead character and gives no reason to complain.
Drishyam-2 started off solid and it has emerged as second biggest opening of 2022 , by minting Rs 15.38 cr nett on its Day-1 and best in Akshay’s career. It is showing signs of earning stupendous numbers on Saturday and Sunday as well. Whereas, Akshay’s Tanhaji collected 15.10 Cr on day-1.
