Ahead of the Gujarat Elections, BJP has released its manifesto which included hosting Olympic Games in the state, and to provide 20 lakh jobs. The party also promised various freebies ranging from bicycles, free sanitary napkins for girl students, and free bus travel for women senior citizens.
Pranshu Jain of from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), an agency which was roped in as an official agency by Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority said “We already submitted a study to Union home minister Amit Shah and sports minister Anurag Thakur in December last year and it was approved. Now we have done the entire work to engage with the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which will be done soon after the new body of the Indian Olympic Association is finalised.”
Speaking about the capability of Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar to host the Olympics, minister Anurag Thakur said, “Not only will we be able to host the Olympics, but we will also organize grand Olympics in the future. With just three months for preparation, Gujarat hosted what I feel is the best national games so far.”
The host nation will be concluded by the year 2025.
