A couple of months ago, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)’s chief K. Chandrashekar Rao announced that the party’s name will be changed to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). The name change has been done as TRS is now aiming to become a national party from being a regional party.

TRS board has submitted a request to the Election Commission of India for this name change. Approving the request, the EC issued an official note the other day. The note read, “The Commission has accepted your request for the change in the name of your party from ‘Telangana Rashtra Samithi’ to ‘Bharat Rashtra Samithi’. The necessary notification in this regard will be issued in due course.”

After getting a clearance from the EC, Telangana’s Chief Minister KCR will organize the formation programme of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) at 01:20 PM today at Telangana Bhavan. He would sign the official letter received from the EC as a sign of acceptance of the order.

From now on, TRS will be referred as BRS. KCR is aiming to spread his party’s wings across the country and wants to fight against the ruling party BJP in the 2024 general elections. The agenda of BRS on the national front will be revealed in the coming days.
