Finally, India registered a win against Bangladesh and that too in a big way. The men in blue had beaten the host by massive 227 runs. Ishan Kishan, who played his first match in the series, scored a double ton. On the other side, Virat Kohli scored a century. Their precious contributions helped India in scoring a mammoth total of 409/8. Bangladesh failed miserably during the chase and got all-out for 182.
While batting first, India lost opener Dhawan in the fifth over itself. Then, Ishan and Kohli built the innings cautiously. While Kohli took time to settle in the crease, Ishan (210 off 131 balls) attacked the bowlers on all sides of the field. In the process, he scored his first ODI century. Within no time, he converted it into a double century. He is the fourth Indian batter after Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar to score an ODI double century. Kishan got out after scoring 210. Later, Virat (113 off 91 balls) scored his 72nd ODI century. Once he got out, India lost wickets in quick succession. With the help of Washington Sundar’s (37 off 27 balls) cameo, in the end, India managed to score 409/8 by the end of 50 overs.
Chasing such a huge total is always a big task. Bangladesh was never alive in the chase as Indian bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals. Only Shakib Al Hasan (43) managed to score a decent total. Shardul Thakur (3/30), Axar Patel (2/22) and Umran Malik (2/43) dismantled the batting attack of Bangladesh. As a result, the hosts got all-out for 182.
Though it lost the game, Bangladesh won the series by 2-1. The Test series will kickstart in a few days. The first Test will start on December 14. It will be held at Chattogram.
