Sub-variant of the Omicron COVID-19 variant, responsible for case surges in China, have been detected in Two states in India. Since 2019, we have battled waves after waves, and now again there seems to be no end to it.
Omicron’s new sub-variant BF.7 is said to be the newest strain of COVID-19 and has started registering cases in India. With greater transmissibility, experts express concern over a fresh COVID wave this New Year. Also the current and worst surge in Covid-19 infections in China is believed to be driven by this BF.7 variant itself. However, it isn’t the first time this BF.7 has made headlines, in the first half of October itself, this variant started to replace the variants that were then dominant in the United States and several European countries.
Coming to India, the new Omicron sub-variants have been detected in Orissa and Gujarat. While two cases have been registered in Gujarat, one case has been registered in Orissa.
