After winning the T20I series by 2-1, Team India started off the ODI series against England on a big note. Rohit Sharma and his men won the first ODI by 10 wickets and registered a massive victory against the Brits. While Jasprit Bumrah (6/19) and Mohammed Shami (3/31) shined with the ball, Rohit (76) and Dhawan (31) took care of things with the bat.
Rohit won the toss and chose to bat first. Bumrah gave the start exactly what India needed. He picked up 4 wickets inside 8 overs of the innings and broke the top order of England. Barring skipper Jos Buttler (30) and David Willey (21), no one really performed for England with the bat. As a result, they got all-out for 110 in 25.2 overs. Bumrah took 6 wickets in total. Shami scalped 3 and Prasidh got one wicket.
India started off the chase on a cautious note. Both Rohit and Dhawan took their own sweet time settling in the crease. Once they settled, they didn’t hold back. Especially, Rohit went berserk after he got used to the pitch. In the process, he also scored his half-century. The duo made sure not to lose a wicket and handed over a compressive victory for India by scoring 114/0 in 18.4 overs. The second ODI will be held on July 14.
