Nikhil’s mystery sequel Karthikeya 2 has finally hit the theatres today after facing release date conflicts many times. Let’s the how the film is.

Story :

The main plot of Karthikeya 2 revolves around a lord Sri Krishna’s anklet. What is its history? Where is it now? Who are after the anklet? and how Dr Karthikeya(Nikhil) finds he is involved in a mystery related to it forms the crux

What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:

Same as its first part, the major plus point of the film is the interesting story. Right from the word go, the entire film is quite interesting. With twists and turns and with the racy narration, the film makes you stick to your seats. Also the mythological touch is executed in a good way. Yet another major plus point of the film is its background score and the last 45 minutes of the film.

But in many parts the film feels rushed and logic goes missing.

Performance of Cast & Crew

Nikhil steals the show with his great performance. He had a lot of scope to showcase his talent and he delivers it with a lot of ease. His neat and settled acting is one of the advantages of the movie, though there are no heroic elevations and commercial massive ‘performance’ moments that stand out.

Anupama Parameswaran’s character have a small role which is very important in the film and she pulled it off with ease. Srinivas Reddy plays a supporting role that provides good comic relief.. Viva Harsha is okay. Anupam Kher justifies his presence with a great performance. The rest of the actors acted well in minor appearances.

karthikeya 2

Coming to technical aspects, Karthikeya 2 is technically a brilliant film. Camerawork is superb. Dialogues written are decent, and suit the mood of the film. Music by Kaala Bhairava is good and he needs special mention for BGM. Mainly, the sacred chants blend well into the narrative and give the divine feel necessary for the story. Editing is good.

Coming to the director, the way he narrates his story, and adds a decent amount of thrill with a nail biting screenplay is quite impressive. Mainly, Karthikeya 2 is entirely different from its first part. While the first part is a small-scale thriller with horror and mystery elements, the second one is an upgraded version in all the departments. More than a horror thriller, the film now turned into an adventure genre.

First Half & Second Half:

Kudos to the director, who has written an engaging story which has enough twists and turns. Don’t miss the starting scene as it sets up the basic premise of the story. The entire first half grabs your attention with the core theme. However, there are few unnecessary scenes in first half that take center stage. The interval bang is good and raises the curiosity for the second half.

In the second half, things move to Mathura, and the core drama is narrated in a good way. But the issue is a few minor ones, go as rushed bits. They also appear cinematic and slightly unconvincing. They may not give you a proper feel, mainly when the second half is considered. However the last 45 minutes steals the show and stands as major highlight for the film.
