The IBC News Rating
Chiranjeevi’s Godfather has been promoted a lot in the last few days. The film starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, Nayanatara, and Salman Khan has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Storyline:
Story starts with the death of honest CM PKR. Satya Priya (Nayanatara) and Jayadev (Satya Dev) are daughter and son in law of PKR. Jayadev runs a Narcotic business and wants to become CM of the state after his father in law’s death. But Brahma (Chiranjeevi) who is powerful in the party/people doesn’t like Jayadev’s candidature. How Bhrama stops Jayadev from becoming the CM of the state is the rest of the story.
What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:
Director picked up a set-up similar to the original film but narrated it in a more massive way. Without wasting any time, the director gets into the crux of things at the start of the movie. He elevated heroic scenes more than the original version. The lag in the first half doesn’t elevate the proceedings. A neat editing in the first half could have been a lot better.
Performance of Cast & Crew
Megastar Chiranjeevi steals the show with his ultra-stylish look. He suits the character perfectly and gives a fabulous performance. His mannerisms have also been used quite well by the director. Nayanatara is one of the major attractions in the film and gets a good role as the daughter of PKR. Satya Dev gets the major role and gives an impressive performance. His body language and dialogue delivery suit the mood of the film. Salman Khan is good in his limited role.
Sunil gets a meaty role and does what is expected of him. Puri Jagganath is good in his small role. Murali Sharma is one other artist who performed really well as a partner in crime to Satya dev. Other supporting artists like Samuthirakani, Divi, Murali Mohan, and others did justice to their roles.
The production values of the film are pretty good. The music by Thaman is average, but his BGM is terrific. Dialogues are good, and Nirav Shah’s visual composition is brilliant. Editing could have been better in the first half.
Coming to the director, he has done a good job with the film though it is a remake. However, in the first half, flair in action sequences has gone down when compared to the original film Lucifer. If he would have elevated the political drama on a high note in the first half, the output would have been quite better.
First Half & Second Half:
The movie opens impressively and draws us into the narrative. But after it narration becomes flat, for most of the time in the first half. However, pre-interval and interval are interesting. It makes one curious enough to see what lies in the second half. Also second half engage audience to great extent
Impressive:
Chiru Performance
BGM
Second half
Unimpressive:
Simple Plot
First half
‘The IBC News’ take on Movie:
On the whole, director’s revisions of Lucifer for Chiranjeevi with more heroic elevations worked well. Chiru’s character here has more prominence than that of Mohan Lal’s in the original. Massive scenes at regular intervals can be a good treat for megastar fans which may appeal to normal cinegoer also to some extent.
