The IBC News Rating
Nagarjuna’s ‘The Ghost’ has finally hit the theatres today. Directed by Praveen Sattaru, the film features Nagarjuna in the role of an Interpol officer. Let us see how the film is.
Storyline :
The story revolves around an internal cop Vikram (Nagarjuna) who works on a contractual basis. The film starts with glimpses of his flashback. Nagarjuna goes after the underworld in Dubai in his past. At present, he is seen protecting his sister and niece. Why he has to protect his sister, how his past is linked to the present, and what finally happens form the crux.
What’s Entertaining & What’s Boring:
The first half engages you with some good family emotions and top-notch BGM. The Director picked up a set-up similar to his past films but failed to narrate it in an engaging way this time. Too much action in the second half tests your patience.
Performance of Cast & Crew:
Nagarjuna gives an impressive performance as a cop. He carries the entire movie on his shoulders. Even at his 50’s age, he looks good and is effortless even in the action sequences. Sonal Chauhan is perfect in her role. Gul Panag gets a meaty role and performs it with ease. Anikha Surendran’s performance is impressive and the sequences they share with Nag are interesting.
The rest of the cast is good in what they’re given, including Ravi Varma, Srikanth Iyengar and Jaya Prakash.
Coming to the technical crew, Director Praveen Sattaru takes similar concepts as his past films, and gives his own spin. Mainly his screenplay is tight in many parts, while it lags a bit in some parts. On the con side, he concentrated more on action sequences and most of them have been stretched a lot.
The background score is especially good, elevating every scene of the movie, and so are the action sequences. Production values are good.
First Half & Second Half:
Visuals and BGM in the first half are exceptionally good. Family emotions are carried well in the first half. However, the action sequences get too much in the second half, disconnecting the audience from the rest of the story.
Impressive:
Nag’s performance
BGM in the first half
Few action sequences
Unimpressive:
Simple Plot
Too much action in the second half
The IBC News take on Movie:
On the whole, a decent first half, blended with too many action sequences in the second half misfired the entire film. The movie doesn’t carry director Praveen Sattaru’s mark and is passable just in bits and pieces.

Works Only In Bits And Pieces
