Team India won the final deciding ODI against South Africa with flying colours. Indian bowlers dismantled the South African batting lineup and gave a humiliating defeat to the visitors. With this 7-wicket win, Shikhar Dhawan and his men won the series by 2-1.
India won the toss and chose to bowl first. The decision proved to be right as Indian bowlers started attacking the Proteas right from the beginning. Washington Sundar (2/15) and Mohammed Siraj (2/17) sent back the top-order batters to the pavilion. Shahbaz Ahmed (2/32) and Kuldeep Yadav (4/18) took care of the rest of the batters. Indian spinners spun a web around South African batters and got them all out for mere 99 runs in 27.1 overs. Barring Henrich Klassen (34), none of the South African batters was able to play well tonight.
Indian batters started off the chase in a confident way. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill made a partnership of 42 runs for the first wicket. Soon after Dhawan’s dismissal, Ishan Kishan also got out. Shubman Gill (48) was sent back to the pavilion by Lungi Ngidi when he was two runs short of a half-century. Shreyas Iyer (28*) and Sanju Samson finished things off and scored 105/3 in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was given the Man of the Match and Mohammed Siraj was awarded the Man of the Series.
