Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, the telecom and digital arm of Reliance group, on Tuesday appointed its new director Akash Ambani as it’s current board director Mukesh Ambani steps down from the position effective 27th June.

Akash, elder son of 65 year old Mukesh, joined the Jio board in 2014 and he was instrumental in many acquisitions for the company. This elevation can be seen as a right appraisal for him. Currently, Akash is looking after the firm as non-executive director and he’ll be positioned in the new role from 28th June. Jio, considered as the major contributor in Reliance group growth, has reported a net profit of Rs4173 Cr in Q4FY22.

According to the BSE filing by the RIL group, Pankaj Mohan Pawar will take over as managing director of the company. Also, Raminder Singh and KV Chowdhary are appointed as additional directors for the next five years.
