Megastar Chiranjeevi joined hands with sensational filmmaker Koratala Siva for the first time, for the project Acharya. Also starring Ram Charan in an important role, the film garnered everyone’s attention big time. The film released on April 29, 2022 and check out the review here.

Plot:

Dharmasthali is a temple town that lands in the clutches of an evil person Basava (Sonu Sood). Padaghattam is an adjacent mountain town, which is the place of many natural resources. Basava aims to capture it and send all the villagers away. Then comes Acharya (Chiranjeevi) as a blessing in disguise to put an end to the atrocities of Basava in Padaghattam and Dharmasthali. The connection between Acharya and the place takes us to the past, uncovering some truths about his life and it forms the film’s plot.

What’s Entertaining & What’s boring:

Everything about Chiranjeevi is entertaining in the film. Be it his dances or the dialogue delivery, be it his comic timing or his action moves, Chiranjeevi aced everything perfectly. The combination scenes of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan is a big treat to watch out, for all the fans. The chemistry between Charan and Pooja is good too.

However, on the other hand, the boring element is the story, the screenplay, and the pace at which the story progresses ahead. Lack of proper writing makes things boring and the flashback track literally tests the patience.

Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan at Acharya Movie Pre-Release Event

Performance of Cast & Crew:

The performance of the actors is good. Chiranjeevi is good as usual and there is nothing to point out about him. Ram Charan is surprisingly too good in a soft role which yet turns massy. Ram Charan acted very well along with his father in the film. And then, Pooja Hegde is limited to her screen presence but she does magic on the screen. Sonu Sood is routine as a baddie. There aren’t any other performances that deserve a special mention.

Technically, the background score failed to elevate the film and it could be because of the poor writing. There are not enough mass elements that would raise the entertainment bar of the film. The camera work, artwork, and editing work are decent. The production values are lavish.

First Half & Second Half:

The film’s first half is very slow and pale. There are too many testing moments and the actual story never begins. The interval bang is also not up to the mark. When it comes to the second half, the flashback episode that is supposed to be the charm of the movie fails completely and leaves a negative mark. The pre-climax and climax parts are too illogical and boring. Comparatively, the first half is better than the second half.

Impressive:

Performances
A couple of songs
Chiru & Charan scenes

Unimpressive:

Writing
Execution
Score

‘The IBC News’ Take on Acharya:

Acharya has a very important socially relevant message but Koratala Siva failed to execute it well like in his earlier films. From scene one itself, the magic of Koratala’s writing goes missing. In fact, the film looks like it was directed by someone else but not Siva. Acharya is a big disappointment from the best of the best in the film industry.

One-Line Review:

Acharya delivers a failure lesson.
