In view of growing Covid fears in the country, National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) has made a few recommendations to union government and one of them is to bring down the gap between second and booster dose to 6 months. So, the centre has issued an order reducing the gap as per suggestion. Considering the spike in number of daily cases, the Covid working group has taken this key decision.

The Centre has already recommended precautionary dose to all eligible beneficiaries. Currently, private institutions are administering the booster after 9 months of second dose. Following multiple recommendations from the medical teams and experts, the Ministry of Health revised the gap for booster dose to 6 months. Corresponding changes have been made in Cowin app to facilitate the new dispensation.
